Existentialism nurtures the inquisitive mind, but also preys on the weak and the demoralized, tricking them into bad submission. It reduces culture to fiction, accomplishment to pure egotism and drinking instead of astonishment. It grows weeds leaving individuality and self-expression obstructed, giving way to wasted years, missing relationships and unspent talents. The soul need not cry against these hard, prevailing winds. They are perversion to philosophy and to emotional healing, the wounds that bespeak to our shared human frailty. Just be a person. An average person. Over time, it is a full life with enough material to spin a good yarn. Start with your liking. Feed your soul with it a little bit each day. If afraid of clutter, then worry not. Where there are things, there is the no-thing. So balance activity with emptiness. Shut the door, close the blinds and say and do nothing. Start today, no matter how old you are, even if you are too young to see how much time you’ve wasted or too old to believe you have not enough time to waste anymore. Respect your weaknesses. Affirm your humility and stop hiding your vulnerabilities behind philosophy! Instead, find friends. Have sex. Eat good food. See the clear sky. Collect these simple, but fond memories of living. Stop anguishing over being unimportant…
